In the second case you can race your body giving up

This needs to be talked about a lot more. I know there's a shortage of skilled trades people in the U.S., but long hours, harsh conditions, and physically demanding work are rough on older workers.

There's quite of few "alpha" men who think they're rich making $100k-$120k/yr for skilled labor but also work 50+ hrs/wk

It might be alright in your 20s and 30s. Less alright in your 50s.
