However, who knows what the future holds? For decades, Sarah Michelle Gellar swore off any return as Buffy. And look how that turned out. Maybe one day Dushku can be coaxed back to holding her wooden stake one last time.

The article holds the key right in her own words.

Her new work and passion, advocating for psychedelic therapies in dealing with trauma, would be profoundly easy to write into an episode. Faith could come back as a recovering slayer using psychedelic therapy to overcome PTSD from the assorted traumas she went through in the original series. I think that a good writer could dp a lot with that premise.
