Everybody picks on Freud for his crazy ideas. But when you consider the lunacy that his methods overthrew, he doesn't seem so crazy after all.
For example, before Freud many mental illnesses in women were diagnosed as "wandering womb", where the uterus was supposed to have migrated to different places in the body to escape a stinky vagina. Where the uterus moved to, explained the particular malty. Treatment was incense and perfumes for the vagina as to lure the uterus back into place. This was a standard in Western medicine from the time of the ancient Greeks.
Psychotherapy doesn't seem so weird now does it?
What's wrong with sound medical science like that?
