Though the protocol itself is free, libre and open source, the deployment of the protocol resembles a centralized service. This may be fixed in the future with the deployment of independent servers.

Where do you think the HSR station should go/will end up?

I think it will depend on if they plan to upgrade stretch’s of the existing CN VIA track lines or build new corridors. I saw a rumour that the Fallowfield station / line was being considered for Ottawa HSR.

I think they will probably consider its connection or location near the existing commuter rail lines in both cities.

In my dream scenario, we'd revitalise the original Ottawa Union Station building but I know that would never happen.

I at least hope, if we're not reusing the current Via station, we'd put the station a bit closer to downtown. I know there's a good LRT connection to the core from the existing station but my favourite thing about taking the train to Montréal or Toronto is getting out and being in the heart of the city already. You come back to Ottawa and get greeted with a parking lot

It'd be cool to put the station close to the Glebe or on the outskirts of Sandy Hill maybe?
