Based on the people that I have met in my life I wonder how people with such shitty politics and views on marginalized communities can have so many friends and be so smart in STEM, the intelligetsia? (lemmy.ml)

Like you might think that abstract intelligence and social intelligence might carry over solidarity instead of making people more shitty in that regard. How does that even work? Why does people like that coast in life while those who they seem lesser than them suffer?

A lot of people in stem are just there because they were told to be which doesnt really open anyone up to broader thinking. Its varies depending on the field itself though but as always i find neurodivergence to be more of a factor in basedness than anything else. But thats my own observation
