/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!
Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.
~ 3. Use spoiler tags.
Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.
~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.
~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.
~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.
~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

Honestly, I have a love-hate relationship with the ds9 defiant
I love it because it stepped away fro Roddenberry's rules for feddie ships. ( nacelles in even numbers, must have a saucer-section, nacelles must have LOS, etc.) I also love that it's unapologetically a warship.
I hate that the front end was kitbashed from the most useless of vacuum cleaner attachments.
I love DS9. I love the characters, the stories, and the station itself.
But for me, the Defiant was just… OK
Loved the idea of it. The execution left something to be desired.
Would have loved to see miles, Dax, and Worf pull something like the Delta flyer, only to become the Defiant, though.
But really only as long as Miles gets to weaponize the transporter.
(I wonder how many torps a cargo transporter could drop off just outside the hull. Imagine dumping entire holds of the things only to replicated them again. Especially doing so from cloak.)
(I can hear the naysayers being like “but thebtorpedos wouldn’t have a starting velocity!”… ask how people get transported onto planets without going splat into the nearest vertical surface.)
Honestly, the transporter is the main reason why I think the Federation could (possible by a landslide) win a war against the Empire from Star Wars; the Empire likely doesn't have the defenses to stop a Starfleet vessel beaming photon torpedoes, neurocene gas, etcetera directly onto star destroyers. All it takes is a few ships getting past the tie fighters.
It would depend on if the deflector shields in Star Wars work to disrupt transportation or not. (Also on phasers.)
Also the kind of effects ion weapons would have.
Also the empire was never meant to actually be a competent military. Their vehicles are designed for terror, not practicality. Their pilots and infantry are all incompetent and mass produced.
In short they were actually designed to fail.
In any case, there’s too many assumptions that have to be made to put them in the same universe and that’s going to go which ever the way the judges want it to go.
I just fantasize about Miles having several thousand torps just transport in a cloud and zip off to eagerly suicide into something - and Kira’s snark, or maybe just have her glare with a twitchy eyebrow.
Don't forget that the front is a fecking warhead.
I did not know that.
Somehow that makes it even more ridiculously love-hate for me.
