He is going to retire, and then he will run for a third term because he never completed his second term.
He can't legally run for another term.
"Uh, excuse me, Mr. President, uh... sir. I'm afraid what you're doing is... er... illegal and I will have to politely request that you cease and desist immediately."
They can’t risk any electoral votes - do you think they’d want to risk running a candidate who is ineligible for x number of them?
This isn’t about “asking him to stop” (which I think was the point of your comment?) but rather the EC
