Plot twist: Trump resigns instead of losing the next election or going to war and pretending he could have been president for another 150 years if he wanted to?

Of natural causes - the LAST thing we need is to have him turn into a fucking martyr.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 8 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, boy, you are not going to like how insane how base is.

The conspiracy theories are going to be everything from trans shooter to poison to still alive to Jesus coming back from the dead.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 2 points 2 hours ago

Yeah, I know how crazy they are. But there's a difference between "died of a stroke" and "the Charlie Kirk special" on the crazy reaction meter.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago

Only if it's incredibly agonizing cancer or something else horrific.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Eh, even as a martyr he'd be useless. The moment he's gone, no other reich winger can bring the MAGA crowd over to their camp. Without Trump himself there's no MAGA, martyr or not.

I'm not so sure of that. I think we're too confident that someone won't appear to take his spot. As of this minute I think Tucker Carlson could do it.

[–] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 hours ago

there will be dozens, if not hundreds, of people appearing to take his spot. let the base splinter itself into shitty factions during the inevitable power struggle.

He's been actively cutting the knees out from under anyone who has tried to make themselves the clear successor. It's a common weakness in these cults of personality. They're afraid of the competition/a possible usurper

So what I'm hearing is that "This is your lack of self awareness," should be being engraved on some bullets....

Hey I’m not gonna be a choosy beggar

Nah, if the killer makes it sad/funny or he looks really weak, he wouldn't be.

Everything is clickbait nowadays. Journalism died when they figured out how to cram as many ads on a page as they can. The headline is the bait- the actual content is the ads.

He is going to retire, and then he will run for a third term because he never completed his second term.

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 12 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

He can't legally run for another term.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 30 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

"Uh, excuse me, Mr. President, uh... sir. I'm afraid what you're doing is... er... illegal and I will have to politely request that you cease and desist immediately."

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

They can’t risk any electoral votes - do you think they’d want to risk running a candidate who is ineligible for x number of them?

This isn’t about “asking him to stop” (which I think was the point of your comment?) but rather the EC

Supreme Court: We gonna allow it.

I’m willing to sacrifice the Kennedy Center for the rest of his life

[–] BranBucket@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Yuuup. Totally worth it.

[–] IcedRaktajino@startrek.website 23 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Well, the door is right there so don't let it hit you in the diaper on the way out (because we don't want any skidmarks on our door).

Also, this still counts as your second term.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

...if the door hits him hard enough, then we went have to listen to him as a host, either. 'two birds' and such.

Those skid marks would become a national treasure.

There's a universe in which Donald Trump got the E! newsdesk after Bill O'Reily was killed in a freak loofah incident and it is a fundamentally better one.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago

He could've been a host of Talk Soup.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 5 points 15 hours ago

Didn't anyone ever teach him that it's rude to be a goddamn cock tease?
