Why do you think the anecdotal opinions of Redditors is better data than this?
Because it's a single mediocre poll producing a wildly outside expectation result that hasn't been reproduced. Every time a poll doesn't rely on self-identification and instead asks more explicit questions like "do you avoid consuming ___ for moral reasons" or "are you willing to eat ___ if it is freely offered" the numbers drop like a brick.
