"Thunberg, 22, was earlier arrested under the Terrorism Act for holding a sign that said “I support the Palestine Action prisoners. I oppose genocide”. The British government has proscribed Palestine Action as a terrorist group."

The group uses direct action to disrupt the UK arms industry, which it accuses of being complicit with Israel in conducting a genocide. Palestine Action have mounted 45 documented direct actions in the United Kingdom.

“We are concerned at the unjustified labelling of a political protest movement as ‘terrorist’,” the experts said. “According to international standards, acts of protest that damage property, but are not intended to kill or injure people, should not be treated as terrorism.”

The Government asserts that the group is “terrorist” because some members have allegedly caused criminal damage to property, including at military bases and arms companies, with the aim of progressing its political cause and influencing the Government."

They threw paint on some military equipment. Claiming "criminal property damage" is quite the slanted representation of reality.

Not terrorism

The paint was inside a jet engine so it wouldn't work. Property was damaged.

However, the planes experienced no terror.

Cue the US liberals: “this is just SO uncouth.”

Threw paint in the engine, and went at the plane with crowbars.

Besides, the main incident for which it was proscribed involved a policewoman being badly injured in a brutal sledgehammer attack, to the extent her spine still hasn’t recovered enough to return to work over a year later.

None of what you describe is terrorism. The proscription is a disgrace, built upon a disgrace.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Surely deliberately causing injury with a political goal is terrorism?

Uk sending weapons to a genocidal state to kill innocent civilians becausw Israel is a political ally is terrorism

Man Thunberg has been chronically based since she hit the centre stage. No wonder Thiel thinks shes the antichrist.

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Theil thinks everything he doesn't like is the antichrist. He thinks the Antichrist's message is "peace and safety" and to enforce the stagnation of technological and scientific progress. International financial bodies restricting the ability to hide wealth are the Antichrist. Etc.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 2 points 9 hours ago

Yes, hes an unhinged fuckmonster of a man. But he also does think Thunberg specifically is the antichrist incarnate.

Agreed the hero we should aspire ourselves to be like.

Even if you'd do one thousands of what she does it would be incredible for humanity.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 7 points 11 hours ago

I aspire to one day be awesome enough that Peter Thiel thinks I’m the antichrist.
