went to high school in north texas. texas history (an entire two semester year) devoted weeks to the events leading up to the Alamo and it's impact on texas history... but fail to mention anywhere the actual cause of the alamo, texas's refusal to give up their slaves. After years of warning from Mexico that they couldn't continue, texas decided slaves were worth fighting a war over.
And this isn't an isolated incident; both of Texas's constitutions are very explicit about the central role of slavery, including prohibiting people from freeing their own slaves.
Funny that.
Typical Texan education system whitewashing history.
