I don't even know that much about them but I can guarantee that when I see something posted by truscum communities, I'm like "I'm not touching that with a 50 ft pole".

It seems a lot like they focus on what is a "real" trans person, which is very toxic, unless I'm misunderstanding truscum.

People who believe there is only "one true way" of being trans. They typically consider NBs or those who don't medically transition "not really trans", so basically the "No True Scotsman" fallacy of reducing the complexity of human experience down to boxes with strict criteria.

I've never heard of this before. But it seems toxic by its very nature, and something that probably isnt even natural, but russians or the fbi or some dumb far righters starting it for division.

I don't know if anyone was running intentional campaigns back then, but they were already well established some ten years ago when I slid into that pit and it most certainly is toxic.
