Would have been 7 when this one came out, little out of the capabilities of most kids that age.
They're not exactly Tolstoy, and most of the books I read and have read didn't come out the same year I read them.
I guess that's neither here nor there now, it being thirty years later of course. I don't mean to get into an argument about it, but of course it's the internet and some instincts are harder than others to reign in. Hopefully you enjoy them now as much as I did then :D
Just saying your expectations for what grade 2ers are able to read are a little high. They would be minimum grade 5-6 level before a kid would comprehend the material.
My kids are literally this age right now, they enjoy hearing the stories, but they can’t read them. The older one in grade 5. Just starting Harry Potter. That’s the demographic. Which puts that at 10 years, or 99 and no longer that decade really.
And yes I am enjoying them, reading them in chronological order. So almost onto the last Era
I guess the kids who I bummed (re:stole 😓) them from in third grade were above their level.
I'm sure I didn't comprehend all of it, but that didn't stop me from trying :) Sometimes it's better to punch above your level just so you push yourself.
