As in, Greenland leaves the Danish empire, then starts the lengthy process of joining the EU while it has no military support?

Once the situation calms down, sure, let 'em join, but before that, it might just be suicide to leave Denmark.

Greenland was in the EU, but left in 1985. They could apply to rejoin.

Why would Denmark not be able to leave troops there as part of the independence process?
