The fact that a letter like this made it out at all says a lot about the current situation. Zero fucking adults in the room.

What annoys me is that this was sent as a text. Publishing it on headed notepaper is hilarious but also misleading.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago (2 children)

How is it misleading? If the words are the same, how is it misleading to write them like that? US public policy is done by tweets and telegram messages anyway

[–] DerisionConsulting@lemmy.ca 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The medium is the message.

An official letter, on letterhead, is different than a text message.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Not really that different, if we're talking about a wannaby autocrat who governs by insane tweets from his golden shitter

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

So it would be even stranger for him to send this on headed notepaper

I mean, he would never do it anyway, writing a letter on an official paper is work, and work is not what he's known for. Did he send a message from a shitter to the guy he has that writes it on an official paper, or did he send it directly to the intended recepient? Fuck does this matter at this point, both actions has the same political power.

I'm having a go at the reporting. Any excuse can be used to label something "fake news". The standard of the truth needs to be high.

"how does changing the format, content, and method of communication change a communication???"

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Is the content different? Did he actually send this words or not?
Because if not, then yeah, format and method of communication doesn't matter here. This is how he governs, by sending tweets and whatever scribbles to some people to then implement.

It answers different questions than I was asking, but it answers them.

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Yea that's what I've been thinking. There is no way he actually wrote this by himself.

[–] barnacul@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

This reads exactly like the shit he writes himself.

Do you think that he has the mental capacity to write anything? To spell words? To use punctuation? I kind of doubt it.

[–] Tinidril@midwest.social 5 points 5 days ago

I think this is how he writes when trying to sound as official an sophisticated as he can muster. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
