A good mic is 200 bucks, good pair of headphones is 200 bucks.
It cost more to shrink something's size and keep the same quality.
So unless your headset costs like 600+ dollars either the mic is shit or the headphones are shit. Typically both.
So unless you fucking hate money for some stupid reason. Stop buying shit headsets.
Thats the cost of a professional mic, not of an "i just need to talk to my friends" mic. And at least wh 1000mx4 comes with 5 mics. The thing is, they arent intended to be used as mics per se but for noise cancelling.
I think its more of a Bluetooth limitation.
The Sony's were $500 at release. The shortfall was the bluetooth protocol not being able to handle stereo sound and a microphone at the same time. They're still a great NC headset just not for gaming.
