Are you sure it's not there so that gun companies can make massive profits?

For every unit of revenue they make there is somebody who wants to buy a gun.

Given that it was ratified in 1791, more than a half-century before Colt’s Manufacturing Company and Winchester Repeating Arms Company were founded, yes I would say it was not written for their profits.
