I actually looked up edible paper online some years back and it is a thing. Might be messy though.
Or just stop using Facebook Messenger for a private, encrypted messenger app.
Briar makes much more sens for local communities.
Why not rice paper? The Chinese have had it for centuries and shouldn't be too hard to find locally.

You joke, but dark "Esspapier" with "pencils" made out of some form of icing were a thing for a while. The pencils were a bit like crayons and writing sucked, but it did kinda work.
I just checked, you can get pens with food dye for decorating.
