micromobility - Bikes, scooters, boards: Whatever floats your goat, this is micromobility
Ebikes, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, longboards, eboards, motorcycles, skates, unicycles, heelies, or an office chair: Whatever floats your goat, this is all things micromobility!
"Transportation using lightweight vehicles such as bicycles or scooters, especially electric ones that may be borrowed as part of a self-service rental program in which people rent vehicles for short-term use within a town or city.
micromobility is seen as a potential solution to moving people more efficiently around cities"

I never got drop bars. Using them is literally the most uncomfortable position you can take on a bike. Which is why you never ever see normal people (i.e. anyone but Tour de France riders during a final sprint) with their hands anywhere other than on the top bar. The last time I had them (decades ago) I sawed them off. Others turn them upside down. Drops are a useless vestige.
I personally like them for really long rides. On a flat bar my hands go numb and there are only so many different ways you can hold a flat bar. Properly fitted drop bars at least give you more options to switch up your grip and posture.
Can they get uncomfortable? Sure, but any position is uncomfortable if you hold it long enough.
Im with you. I got a beater bike with drop bars and o ly rode it a few times before giving up on it. They felt extremely awkward and uncomfortable. The only advantage was being able to squeeze between traffic more easily, but its not worth it.
