  • Shattered Pixel Dungeon. So perfectly balanced and updated regularly, and COMPLETELY free. Also massively addictive for a long time.

  • Occidental Heroes. Tricky but fun once you have the knack for it. Equal difficulty to SPD.

  • Choice of Games/Hosted Games. These are platforms for publishing text based Choose-Your-Own-Adventure stories. Not all of them are free, but they're cheap and have huge replayability. Some of their leading CYOA games are the Infinity Saga (not marvel, lol, it's like a Napoleonic war fantasy theme) and Creme De La Creme.

  • I liked Merchant too but it's a time hog and an idle game so its arguably built just to waste your time.
