Responses that completely destroy the original argument in a way that leaves little to no room for reply - a targeted, well-placed response to another person, organization, or group of people.
The following things are not grounds for murder:
- Personal appearance ("You're fat", "You're ugly")
- Posts with little-to-no context
- Posts based on a grammar/spelling error
- Dick jokes, "Yo mama", "No, you" type responses and other low effort insults
- "Your values are bad" without any logcal or factual ways of showing that they are wrong ("I believe in capitalism" - "Well, then you must be evil" or "Fuck you you ignorant asshole")
Rules:
- Be civil and remember the human. No name calling or insults. Swearing in general is fine, but not to insult someone else.
- Discussion is encouraged but arguments are not. Don’t be aggressive and don’t argue for arguments sake.
- No bigotry of any kind.

I'm 39. Partner is 40. Married over 8 years.
More than once we've had a shit day with weather, or something breaking in the house, or dogs being sick, etc etc... And we'll turn to each other and say "Imagine we also had kids?"
Fuck. All. Of. That.
I'm single and I am thinking "I can barely clean after and cook for myself. Imagine if I have kids."
You have The clarity to recognize that you would need to step up if the situation arose.
I think you would do good
Imagine thinking the same about all the good moments instead of only focusing on the bad stuff.
Some people just aren't interested in having kids. I've had countless great moments in my life I will always remember fondly. There isn't a single one of those moments I think would've been better if I had a kid lol. I don't think my life would be worse, just different.
There's been tons of moments I've shared with friends who have kids who I've seen and experienced with and literally thought "that must feel amazing".
Then I go home to a quiet house, feed my farm animals, and just... Quit life for a few hours. Nothing else to worry about. I'm sure there is a ton of emotional and rewarding moments having children, but I appreciate the rest of the time where I just don't ever have to worry about them.
Kids are a blessing you don't miss if you don't have them, and can't imagine living without when you do
Incorrect. My mother never let me forget that she regretted not following through with aborting me. She always imagined how much better life would have been without me.
Imagine thinking of bearing children into a less habitable world because of climate change, and its resulting ecological decline and social and economic strife.
I get what where you are coming from, I'd like to have children some day, but is it fair to have children in a clearly becoming bleak future? Never mind wars and economic recessions, because human society always recover from it. But climate change? It is a different beast than hunger or wars because it renders the entire planet inhospitable. Modern human society is not able to tackle or evolve from the rapid environmental changes caused by us.
Imagine thinking of all the money we need to spend on a farm through a single income household while also imagining we needed to spend it on other humans.
We're barely getting by as is. Now add a tiny human or two to that. Everyone is miserable and nothing gets done. Two Neurodivergent humans who barely function on a good day dealing with all the chaos of modern life and financial restrictions... "but think of the good moments".
I have that with my dog. He jumps up on me every day I come home from work.
That dog is going to leave a massive void once it expires by the sound of things.
The one who past last May did. We're back up to two but there's still a soul missing from the house. But our newest seems to have absorbed some of his personality with how she acts. It's not the same, it never will be, but it's somehow familiar.
I'm glad to hear your coping. I'm on the opposite end. I don't do pets and I do have a child. At the end of the day it's whatever keeps you happy given the circumstances. Everybody is different.
Sorry in advance, unexpected brain dump inbound. Sadly, evolution doesn't factor in happiness or anything apart the ability to procreate and survival of a species. We are living in a time where we way outlive our need to be here. No wonder suicide rates are higher after "mid life" and crazy biological processes happen like menopause. Survival in later life is irrelevant from an evolutionary point of view. But here we are.
Child or no child. Dog or no dog. Let's all do what we can to be happy and support those who we can support on the way.
