The en dash is the appropriate kind of dash in this instance, not em.

Thank you. I was under the impression that hyphen and en dash were identical glyphs. As someone with a habit of chiding others for using the wrong sort of horizontal stroke, this was a dangerous misunderstanding for me to have.
