I just hate how we keep comparing America to other countries and trying to find anything but the obvious reason for why Americans as a demographic are so unhealthy.
Medical care is fantastic and should be accessible to everyone, but it's not magic. If you eat terrible food it will send you to the afterlife, even with the best healthcare in the world.
You're seriously underestimating how beneficial even just annual blood work is...
Maintenance is better and cheaper than repair. People without access to healthcare aren't doing that, or seeing a doctor till they start having heart attacks and strokes.
if you don't know you're sick, you won't seek treatment. And the earlier the diagnosis the better
