The issue is that a lot of people agree with you when it's abstract. But then bring in a person that's easy to judge and hate, and suddenly there seems to be a belief that they could do otherwise, but because they are evil, they CHOOSE not to. Which somehow also becomes an argument for free will, even though it's actually an argument against it...
If you don't fall into this trap, good for you. But a lot of people do.
