Israel’s far right seems to believe that destroying Palestinian governance will afford Israel more strength. On the contrary—it is a mistake that will become expensive, bloody, and self-destructive as it accelerates the cycles of resentment and violence. And Washington, too, stands to lose a great deal by turning a blind eye to the West Bank: the PA’s collapse will remove any plausible path toward the kind of regional stabilization and effective postwar settlement on which the Trump administration has staked much of its foreign policy legacy.

This will escalate as well.

I truly hope that they'll fight back, and that the world will notice, but honestly I'm not so sure. How long did it take for Gaza to become a household name? How much does it take to break a people? How many Palestinians are even left anymore?

What about the situation for Americans themselves?

That’s part of the problem…the Palestine issue being used by bad actors as not just a handy deflection (used here) but a disruptor to their elections.

It’s about time Americans put that issue aside and sorted out their own house, because until they do they can’t or won’t do anything about the issue.

The US can’t do anything about Palestine; Netanyahu calls the shots there. The US needs to stop being distracted by it. Sorry if that sounds callous but that’s how it is.
