Intentionally lying to the population for something outside of national security should be made treason. Protecting pedos isn't a matter of national security

I also feel like if a government says that its nation's security relies on lying to their citizens, then that's not a government worth keeping anymore.

Meh, id say a release date would be better. Some information needs to be held for a short time, but beyond 6 months, is rediculous. If you are planning a counter attack, sure it's fine to say we don't know what is going on. But 6 months later everything should be made public. It's our information we paid for. They are civil servants. Outside of prisoners, they are the legal definition of what should be slaves until they quit
