Where do you get a 25 year old american who is fluent in 3 Asian languages? Raised in a camp for spies? If so she's probably running him to her own ends. Or this is fully made up.

Nobody in a situation like this would assume they are in a privacy bubble just because they switch to their own language.

I know people who can carry their weight in 3 languages more than easily. It's not common, but multilingualism isn't exactly unheard of outside of the Anglosphere.
