I kind of love that this company makes everything from nuclear reactors to tractors to the industry standard vibrator.

It's the running theme with Japanese zaibatsus and Korean chaebols, they expanded into manufacturing everything when those markets were still new. Samsung also produced stuff from tanks, fighter jets and trains to phones and monitors (although iirc they spun off the military manufacturing into a separate company).

We had some Hitachi trains here in Australia. "Riding a Hitachi with my friends," was a common weekend activity for me.

Oh and we sometimes catch the train too.

They don't make it anymore, they sold it off a couple years ago because of "optics".

This makes me sad.

Did quality drop off?

Presumably not significantly, I hear the NYT just recommended it as the best vibrator for most people.

They used to make carburetors too.

They made amazing boomboxes back in 80s. We have one still operational.
