That is a whole lot to unpack but I would be happy to explain to you how the overlap in gifted kid programs is extremely problematic and is another side of the special needs coin.
If your parents are rich and your hyperfixations are nurtured you get placed in your gifted child program (which includes a ton of extra pressure) If you are poor you get relegated to a whole other kind of special needs program and dehumanized.
It has roots in eugenics and it's real bad. A rare Larson L but it's still a funny comic.
I got a bit of a mix of both and came out the other end a very angry trans communist wanting to burn the world to the ground.
that a us thing? here the gifted program was just if you did well in a subject then you got accelerated. i was in it and my family was poor enough to qualify for free school meals
In the us school funding is decided by property taxes so more affluent areas have more resources for their students. This includes better teacher pay more tutors better teacher student ratio and better curriculum and extra ciricular activities. This is all part of the lie that is the meritocracy. I think funding is done differently elsewhere.
