imo this is what happens when you politicize the gun ownership issue across the aisle. The majoirty of people with guns support the current president. Ownership growth amongst liberals, POC, LGBTQ is rising faster than any other demographic though. This is important because one man with a gun is a mass shooter lone wolf terrorist who will never get talked about again after one media cycle, but an armed group showing up to protests and mutual aid becomes something like the BPP. You need organization and training as much as you need guns and the people actually willing to do the work are just starting to arm themselves.

There are hundreds of shootings a year and you have one guy who doesn't fit the pattern in decades. I stand by what I said.

Hundreds of people shooting up their local Amazon warehouse instead of Jeff Bezos.

Do you understand that Luigi was wildly popular far before his identity was released?

Feel like it also had more to do with shooting the CEO of evil inc instead of the local school

Then why does no one talk about Willem Von Spronsen? Luigi is the exception to the rule, and if you don't think so I encourage you to find out for yourself. Theres evil CEOs everywhere, so go nuts.

Because he attacked lower level goons like a moron.

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lower level goons aka the same people who killed Alex and René. Sure buddy thats why.

Some random ICE goons. People like Thiel and the politicians instructing ICE don't feel a hair less safe because a bunch of their mobs got attacked.

You have to follow the chain of command and look at who the top responsible is, not just those following their orders.

Yeah but in a country where guns are easier to buy than weed does this really matter?

If the argument was ‘the majority of hand to hand combat experts support the current president’ it’d be one thing but guns are point and click, you don’t need more than 2-6 months of training to be a legitimate threat.

Put guns in the lap of DSA furry and give that person basic training and it’s a wash between them and some potato ICE hired off the street

I mean sure its a wash if all ICE had was gund and cars. But they have better gear, better ammunition, encrypted radio comms civilians cannot use, and on demand backup. You can't train for a month or two at a shooting range and decide you're ready to fight the government.

Well, if you never learn to think NOT as an individual, sure, you'll get nowhere. You'll get nowhere alone. You'll wallow in your defeatism and despair indefinitely.
