6 foot is literally the average in Northern European / Nordic countries. (Also the myth about Dutch being the tallest, if you look at the data, most Dutch data was self-reported and we know that self reporting for positive attributes tends to be exaggerated by ~2%. When that is accounted for, they come down to the same level neighbouring countries, which measure, are.)
I'm pretty much exactly 6ft. If 6' is 182.88 I measured over it at 183 in the army but I've also been measured as 182.5 at one point. People don't usually go into mm when measuring so yeah. May be I'm a <6' manlet on some days and >6' hunk on others.
Such an arbitrary line. Also I never felt tall. I feel much in the same way Americans treat the 6ft thing, we do with 2m. There we're a few people over 2m in my small town and loads who were >190cm. I never really felt short either though. A few times maybe when most of the group was people >190cm and I was the shortest at 183.
Edit "->'
2m is crazy. That's 6' 6¾", well into 99th percentile range.
99th percentile, perhaps in the US. Not in the town I grew up in.
The local chimney sweep was a man of more than 2 meters. I might be lying if I say 210+ but I feel like he was. I knew his son and he grew up to be over 2m as well. But man his dad once scared the shit out of me when I was like 7 or 9 or smth and mom hadn't told me a chimney sweep was coming and what looked to me like a giant black monster with all sorts of tools just came in, I ran for the library and rang mom I think. (I was usually allowed to be at home because I found daycare to be kinda annyoing and boring and I was a chill kid so mom let me stay home reading Donald Duck.)
Anyway a few others were over 2m, including the principal of the local elementary. And lots of over 190, that was pretty normal, mostly 190-195 than 195 to 2m but both were kinda plentiful. My dad was 192 or 193, my third cousin is something like 195 and a lot of people in the village were related, even though somewhat distantly. But I got half of my genetics from outside the village (mom didn't grow up there) so I'm not as tall. Although my brother is closer to 190 than 180.
Anyway I'm 6' but was still kinda shocked to hear a girl friend of mine (I don't want to write "female friend", except now I did) describe me as "kinda tall" just a few years ago.
I'd like to visit some Asian country where the average is still short af and feel like a giant.
Nigel Tufnel, is that you?
Took me a while, whops. 6'*
Should've just written ft everytime.
Thanks for pointing it out
