When I was in high school, a girl called me at home and this embarrassing conversation happened:
Her: So, this girl I know likes this guy I know, but he doesn’t seem to get any of her hints. What should she do to tell him she likes him?
Me: uh, I dunno, just tell him she likes him?
Her: …like, “I like you?” Just like that?
Me: yeah
Her: I like you.
Me: yeah, you got it, just tell her to tell him that and she’ll be all set.

The first girlfriend I had (not her) pulled me aside angrily in the hallway between classes and said something like “listen, I’ve been hitting on you for two weeks now and everyone else thinks we get along like gangbusters, I’m going insane; do you wanna go out with me or not?”

Anyways, I learned a few years ago I’m on the spectrum and it really helped give a lot of context for me and my dumbass.

remarkably similar experience.
a girl in 9th grade sat next to me in half my classes. after a semester passed, she leaned over one day and said "I have a crush on someone in this class SO MUCH." I proceeded to guess every other guy in the classroom, and she'd go "nooo..." and then said "Oh well Janey? Oh Rebecca?" and she got upset and class got going and I forgot.
She wrote in my yearbook "We could have had a lot of fun but you're a sweet guy!"
and she was freaking hot.
Two years later my first actual girlfriend basically sat next to me at every lunch for a month, then some dance was approaching and she told me "Look here's my address, pick me up at 7 ok?" And kissed me on the lips.
Ho lee shiiiit.
Oh and I was fuckin ugly too, I didn't hit my growth spurt until 17, was far more interested in computers than anything else, big nose, dumbo ears, greasy, etc., so people, even if you're completely clueless, be nice and bathe regularly, it might happen to you!
Yeah but.....how do you KNOW your wife likes you? Are you sure? She LIKE likes you? Omg. What if she does? She might even want to go on a date.
