From what I heard, this "snowball" was more rock than snow.
If we didn’t see the guy throw a sandwich they would have called it assault with a projectile weapon. Where did you hear there was rock(s) in it?
The sandwich probably had a few rocks in it. Tiny sodium chloride rocks.
Same way a snowball is a ‘ball of ice’ if you don’t bother to note the type of ice.

Zero mention of rocks, only “snow and ice”
So yeah, zero mention of rocks.
And I wouldn't take the fact that the cops went to the hospital as evidence of anything, that is very by the book whenever NYPD wants to claim assault on an officer.
Is there any real proof, or is this just their word? Because the cops are big babies and shouldn't be trusted after they got a bunch of bad press. I can easily see them lying after the fact to save face.

I read the article. The only thing they stated was a "bruised eye and headache". Yeah if you get smacked in the eye with a snowball, it could do that. Doesn't need a rock inside...
