Dull Men's Club
An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.
1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.
2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.
3. Avoid repetitive topics.
4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.
There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.
Some other communities to consider before posting:
5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.
6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.
7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

It's already running again. Vice Grip mode on the ignition..
Good enough for another 50k miles
LOL, since the Vice Grip method sheared all the lock tumblers, now I can just turn the ignition by hand, no tools necessary now, not even a screwdriver.
Yeah yeah, almost anyone could come along and try to steal it at the moment, but the battery also has a bad cell and only charges up to about 11.5 volts max, it currently requires the help of jumper cables to start right now, and I disconnect the negative battery terminal after I park it and shut it down.
Ultimately, if we don't sell it first, I'm planning on replacing both the ignition lock and the battery, along with the driver's side door, because the lock on that is also fucked and currently rigged up with a padlock.
If I get that far into repairs, the price is going up to $1500, but as is, simple proof the engine runs and it drives, as-is $1000.
I dunno, time will tell, but I ain't about to go much further into any more repairs until I can get all the paperwork and title sorted out. The original owner passed away and didn't exactly leave a will..
It never hurts to have a beat up truck to do beat up truck things.
We had an old S-10 and it just had a panel of switches for starting the fuel pump and ignition. It was later completely gutted and we installed a big block 380 and supercharger, roll cage and racing slicks for drag racing, but that's not dull enough for this place.
Damn! Dude I used to work with Had one with a 350 in it. Insane little truck lol.
It was very ridiculous.
The body work was last, so mid project it looked like a rust bucket but ran like a demon. Even mild acceleration with the exhaust cutout was basically a war crime on traffic.
Gas mileage wasn't so great...
Whatever the future of this truck is, I dunno yet, until we sort out the paperwork. But in the meantime, it does have at least one beater truck duty to handle soon. We gotta remove the love seat sofa he used to sleep on at my mom's, the thing is nasty stinky..
Bonus points, the truck already has about half a tank of gasoline in these otherwise trying times...
Keep that in the tank and, in a few months, you may be able to buy a new truck!
Damn yo, yeah gas expensive and just going up these days.. ☹️
