When they announced new star wars like 10 years ago I really hoped for a Kyle Katarn story. Seeing what they've done though I'm glad they left him alone

Plotwise, Andor kinda replaced Katarn though
If I'm not mistaken, Rogue One also did. Kyle Katern was the one who got the death star plans I believe, which Rogue One retconned
Vibewise Kanan Jarrus from Rebels kinda replaced the jedi side of Katarn.
