I refuse to elaboratebecause all I really want to know is whether, having subscribed and then unsubscribed from this comm via lemmy.ml it will continue to federate for some period of time, or whether having returned to 0 local subscribers means it won’t.

No local subscribers, didn’t federate. I’m not about to ruin my 0 subscription streak.

Even the parts that have federated now are still incomplete, either because it’s at 0 local subscribers again or because it’s taking longer than 20 minutes (or 5 so far for my other reply)?

The pic is from https://lemmy.ml/c/modabuse@lemmy.sdf.org not from sdf, but either someone else subscribed and unsubscribed too or it just took longer than 20 minutes to federate.

Hmm. I believe because my screenshot is from the parent instance of the community, it's considered the source of truth. There's likely some sort of misconfiguration with your instance.

You definitely need to have someone subscribed on a given instance to kick off federation, I just didn’t know if you needed to stay subscribed. Solid “probably”.

You're saying I should I register an account on .ml and subscribe, then? To fix the misconfiguration?

That would make it federate properly yeah, but you’d need to do that on every instance that doesn’t already have local subscribers if you want the comm to federate everywhere that sdf does.

That seems like a lot of work. I'm so sorry this has happened to us.
