I refuse to elaboratebecause all I really want to know is whether, having subscribed and then unsubscribed from this comm via lemmy.ml it will continue to federate for some period of time, or whether having returned to 0 local subscribers means it won’t.

If one of the moderators of this community are what abused your friend, or if you feel abused by proxy, you're afforded the same safe space to air your grievances about it.

I’ve already separately aired my grievances about the mods of this community not banning @wesker@lemmy.sdf.org for repeatedly making me want to violate the community rules. This is an unrelated grievance.

According the LW admins, this constitutes an abuse of the mention system, and I don't have to take this.

Are these LW admins in the room with you right now?

[–] wesker 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It was a 7 month ban, but it expired sometime late last year, so it's possible they are.

elmofire it’s the only safe option, then

We don't currently have a rule against telepathic influence, but I'll think it over.

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 1 points 19 hours ago

Please consider it. It’s well deserved.

I have no idea how any of this works, sorry.

No local subscribers, didn’t federate. I’m not about to ruin my 0 subscription streak.

Even the parts that have federated now are still incomplete, either because it’s at 0 local subscribers again or because it’s taking longer than 20 minutes (or 5 so far for my other reply)?

The pic is from https://lemmy.ml/c/modabuse@lemmy.sdf.org not from sdf, but either someone else subscribed and unsubscribed too or it just took longer than 20 minutes to federate.

Hmm. I believe because my screenshot is from the parent instance of the community, it's considered the source of truth. There's likely some sort of misconfiguration with your instance.

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

You definitely need to have someone subscribed on a given instance to kick off federation, I just didn’t know if you needed to stay subscribed. Solid “probably”.

[–] notwesker 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

You're saying I should I register an account on .ml and subscribe, then? To fix the misconfiguration?

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

That would make it federate properly yeah, but you’d need to do that on every instance that doesn’t already have local subscribers if you want the comm to federate everywhere that sdf does.

That seems like a lot of work. I'm so sorry this has happened to us.
