What are some good, populated multiplayer games that have a free-for-all mode? (lemmy.ml)

To be specific, I'm trying to find a multiplayer game to play that isn't team-based or co-op, which most of them seem to be.

EDIT: To narrow down the genre a little bit, I'm looking for shooters (first or third person, doesn't matter) or something more on the casual side.

My fiancée had a lot of fun playing a couple weeks ago and the games seemed populated enough. Didn't take her too long to find a match and the lobbies were full too. YMMV depending on the server location, though - Europe here
