Like that red priest who could, for some reason, revive Dondarrion (and only dondarrion for some reason) whenever he died. Gambo thrones would have been ten times the show if it had like, at least twice as much of that sort of thing going on

Instead we just got ten seasons of boring people making terrible choices and two spinoffs where they could have showed more magical nonsense but didn't (at least for knight of the seven kingdoms, i haven't watched all of Dragon House yet)

check out all the shit that's in the books, either mentioned or directly encountered or referenced in myth and lore. Almost all of this stuff is "real" in the planetos world, but just very rare or in the fringes and frontiers of the world.

We do directly see: Merfolk/Squisher half-breeds and their descendents (Biter, Manderlies), White Walkers, Cold Wights (including sentient ones like Coldhands), Fire Wights (Deric Dondarrion, Lady Stoneheart, Jon Snow), Shadow Binding, Warging, Astral Projection (Glass Candles), Visions, Prophecies, Far Sight/Scrying (Glass Candles / Fire Magic), Time Travel (Bran interfering in the past via weirwoods), Glamors/Illusion Magic, Warlocks, Greenseers, Red Priests/Shadow Binders, Greenmen, Children of the Forests, Giants, Magical Horns, Dragons, Dragonbinding magic, Pyromancy, Wildfire, Qyburn doing non-fire/ice Necromancy ala Frankenstein, weirwood root networks underground are all connected worldwide, the drowned god saving Aeron Damphair/Patchface - both of which should have drowned and one of which were lost at sea for multiple days.

We will likely see at some point: Krakens, Euron calling down the red bleeding star, squishers making a more overt move, and a lot more overt high fantasy magic.

oh dondarrion is a kind of wight? I guess that makes sense? but like it's explicitly characterized that way in the books?

How Dondarrion describes it is that he isn't alive. That his soul was basically grabbed as it was fleeting away and bound back to the necromantically animated body. Considering that Red Priests are shadow binders, this makes sense that they can bind souls. The body itself should have ceased functioning, it had huge open wounds and missing chunks of organs. He smelled badly. He was basically a zombie that had someone in the driver's seat. Every time he got "resurrected" he came back with less and less of himself, more and more an unthinking zombie. That's why he passed off the baton to Lady Stoneheart, he knew his next resurrection would be impossible or completely out of control.

yeah i want more of that and for it to be more explicit, sign me up for that version of gambo thrones
