Good for the recall folks, though I'm sure there's a share of pure NIMBYs in there and some folks definitely having the day they voted for. That's funny that the supporters think the 1000 construction jobs will be for locals and not the specialized oilfield-like firms that are already staffed up to work these projects, or that Google will have 200 permanent staffers tied to the location and contributing to the town's tax base.

those contract workers will be eating at the local cafe for the duration of construction. 200 staffers seems high, but 70 sounds about right - data centers need a few people to replace old racks, clean the walkways (bathrooms...), maintain the HVAC systems (in a data center this is a full time job) and other tasks, and 70 is the number I hear. Though maybe this data center is bigger than the ones I've heard of.

In Oklahoma, its more likely that a group of neighboring property owners didn't get a cut in or something petty about a disagreement of funds used from Hotel Tax by the Economic Development Authority. I agree and guarantee its some NIMBY based dispute for sure.

Local City Government is a challenge to keep focused especially in Conservative parts of the US.
