Seriously, have you tried it on Linux? Nowadays older hardware seems to be better supported on Linux than on newer Windows versions.
I tried it on Ubuntu and Bazzite. This on super old hardware. An AMD RX570 on a Core2Quad with 8GB DDR2.
Although, it was just as bad on my 10th-gen Core i5 with a 6600XT and 32GB DDR4. I'm not sure I even got Assetto running on it after 8 hours of trying to make .Net 4.7 install on proton.
