Becoming an adult is realising you do not have to forgive anyone.

Becoming an adult is realising that family is no excuse for abusive behaviour.

Forgiving someone who has no intention of altering their behaviour is simply asking for it to be repeated.

I agree. How can you forgive an adult who hasn’t changed, and who potentially denies that anything ever happened? Forgiving would be a masochistic behavior since you would be the only one to suffer.

TL;DR: we’re supposed to evolve from one generation to another. If older adults don’t do their part, fuck them.
