Here's a handy guide for anyone deciding how get content on their TV:
Gaming Console > Nvidia Shield > Streaming device (roku) > Cable/Satellite TV > TV Antenna > Smart TV Software

I like your guide, but I'd add a step or two:

Roku devises are the same steaming pile of advertisements. Just because it's a different flavor doesn't mean it's not there. They even advertise in their afk screen. Really that list needs to remove cable because it's also paying to get advertisements and it should include a pc at the front.
Seems like media PCs haven't been in vogue in quite a while, but yeah, they def give more control.
I'd put shield ahead of consoles. It's way quicker to start than consoles, uses less standby power (I guess), and the included remote and interface make it easier for "normal" people to use.
Thanks to HDMI-CEC you can just use the regular tv remote to control a console.
Which kinda solves one problem, but you think a non-tech-savvy person will remember not to press the Netflix button on the TV remote that gives them the crappy TV app? For a gamer/etc. that knows what button a TV remote is going to correspond to "o" in the on screen UI, sure. Useful info for those that didn't know!
The PS5 doesn’t show console controls. The UI is like a regular TV interface. But yes they must remember to not use the wrong app.

Been years since I was into that. What os/apps do you use?
Fedora with Plex and VLC. I wouldn't recommend my setup to anyone though.
Kodi used to be good. I'd look into that if anyone else needed to share my HTPC with me.
