Commenting that Nazis should get punched abstractly (i.e. not a specific Nazi) got me site permabanned from Reddit. They have chosen a side.

[-] Grayox@lemmy.ml 21 points 9 months ago

Got a temp ban for that myself! My perma ban came from mass reporting r/truerateme

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 9 months ago

I got perma IP banned after commenting on a post about how nazis want X minority eradicated: "Well, maybe nazis should be eradicated"

Did I take it too far? Perhaps. Do I regret it? Not in the slightest

[-] evranch@lemmy.ca 13 points 9 months ago

Perhaps? How did we come to live in a world where people question themselves about whether we should eradicate Nazis.

There was a time not long ago when the only thing the entire world agreed on was that Nazis should be eradicated.

They never stopped after the war, they hunted down Nazis in their 90s hiding all over the world to bring them to justice.

Half the games I grew up playing involved shooting Nazis.

It probably has a lot to with actual nazis being dead and anyone called a nazi today having basically nothing in common with the group that was the nazis.

[-] Seleni@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

Nothing aside from the ideology, symbols, behaviors, and derogatory & dogwhistle terms, of course.

actual nazis being dead

Less than a month ago:

...but of course people have explained to me that "Nazis are fine, as long as they fight for us"... 😒

[-] WhiteHawk@lemmy.world 11 points 9 months ago

I mean you probably know that, but I'm pretty sure threatening violence against any group, no matter what group, violates their rules. Making exceptions would just increase their workload.

[-] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

Same here, said I think punching Nazis is always a good idea like grandpa taught me, banned.

Still think it’s a good idea for the record.

[-] TwoGems@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

Reddit banned me once for saying someone should take out Putin. Putin. So should we not want one of the most genocidal dictators we've had in some time gone? Ok.

[-] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 5 points 9 months ago

I think I know where reddit keeps getting it's "fuck around" money

[-] SCB@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Omg same lol

Whole reason I'm here.

[-] jernej@lemmy.ml 3 points 9 months ago

I only got shadow-banned for my anti-nazi content, but one of my posts was removed by reddit themselves

They don't remove your posts when they ban you, they want to keep the content that you made for them.

[-] EdibleFriend@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Remember that video of Ron perlman saying that a studio executive might lose their house for what they said? I commented something to the effect of ' if Hellboy said it's time to start burning down houses I would show up'

Permaban.

[-] cricket97@lemmy.world -5 points 9 months ago

you're surprised calls to violence got you banned? are you stupid?

You think violence is ALWAYS wrong? Are you stupid?

[-] cricket97@lemmy.world -4 points 9 months ago

Calling for violence is against the rules on nearly every social media site. You are claiming that getting banned for that is indicative of them siding with the nazis or something.

[-] Wakmrow@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Being fascist is a call to violence itself

[-] cricket97@lemmy.world -2 points 9 months ago

cool, has nothing to do with what i said
