That would imply the universe has a center. There's no evidence of that.
Technically the "center" that they're referring to would be the unknowable edge of the universe, which we know must exist ist just more like a point in time rather than space itself as we perceive it. We're both speeding towards it and infinitely pushing it away until gravity wins and the inertia of the big bang is cancelled out.
