I recently saw mrwhosetheboss's video on banned (in us) banned Huawei products. And I really liked the os the phones had.

In my opinion, the animations were really cool. The customization seemed really nice, specially on the widgets aspects. And thought when using phones it is not something I really look into, I found the whole ecosystem part really good and for some people I think it would be perfect.

What are your thoughts? Do you think it's better than stock android / pixel launcher (which I've heard people say is the best option as for now, and thought I haven't tried it yet I think it probably is)?

Also I don't know if harmony os is installable on other Androids. Would it be worth it? Or you would stick with custom ROM like Pixel Experience?

I want to see what you think!

I personally am a sucker for Chinese Designed UIs, they’re really well polished and thoroughly skinned for Android, and Harmony OS (no matter what Huawei says about it, I’m still inclined to believe it’s Android) is no exception to that. The ecosystem stuff MrWhoseTheBoss showcased on Huawei products seemed pretty well done, and it made me think how good an ecosystem like Samsung’s could’ve been.

It’s proprietary though, and you can’t really get it on anything but Huawei phones. Unfortunately, these aren’t the golden days of custom roms anymore where people are porting Flyme onto their Redmi Note 5 Pros anymore :(

If it wasn’t for the obvious gripes I have about Huawei, I would probably have no problem using it, alas, I am just fine with using a custom ROM like RisingOS on my Pixel 6a anyway.

I agree - I also really enjoy the polished look of modern chinese UIs, certainly more than whatever Google is trying with Material U.

This is in my opinion one of the great achievments of Android, the fact that manufacturers can change so many aspects of a phones UI. Not like with Windows Laptops for example where each and every one looks and behaves the same.
