I agree. I think it's easy to forget how Hamas was used by the Israeli government as a tool to fuck with Fatah, who – while still utilizing terrorism – was more than willing to negotiate, only to be spit at by Israel. Much like the US befriended fundamentalists in an area a bit more to the east, because every enemy of Communists™️ is a friend of theirs.

Since the attack, Hebrew media have constantly brought up the point of how Hamas was maintained in order to postpone the creation of a neighboring Palestinian state. And while Israelis are getting even more right-wing these days, I'm still optimistic and believe that the next government will restart the relationship with Fatah. BH!
