Independent content creators are barely making a minimum wage in a day. Maswerte lang kapag may kumuhang talent agency sa mga iyan o may mag-sponsor na NordVPN, pero uso ba yan dito sa Pinas (not). BIR thought having a presence online made millions. #TaxTheRich

Ang cringe talaga sa kabila lol

Yup, porke nakakita sila isang influencer na nagyayabang ng 5million/day, may sweeping generalization na kaagad to tax the YouTubers. Content creators that make the big bucks are independently wealthy to begin with or celebrities or have big jugs/blessed with gluta drips by default. Mangilan-ngilan lang yung "yumaman" dahil sa YouTube, maybe even barely 0.3%.

Those who do make some money, it's about equivalent to the monthly salary of a BPO worker... and again, wala sila benefits so that money isn't even as high as you think.

most content creators have day jobs. their internet lives are just for hobby and/or entertainment purposes. masses took their opinions personally, and it's depressing to witness the entertainment industry became the staple of real world pov.

That's true. But I do think some (particularly low-income earners) turned it into a full-time job because of how time consuming filming and editing is, and YouTube algorithm pretty much forcing you to upload frequently.

Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! ✈️

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! 🇵🇭

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.
