IMO they didn’t crush anything?

The apathetic remained.

Those who have niche communities that aren’t available elsewhere likely remained.

Several of my subscribed subs are completely gone or functionally extinct due to lack of participation.

Anecdotally I find reduced participation in other subs, people seem less willing to have a discussion.

Personally I’ve moved on to Lemmy/KBin/etc. and spend most of my time there now.

But “crushed”?

Nah I'd say crushed because they started forcibly reopening subs, removing moderators, etc etc

Crushed is a funny way to spell "all the good people left"

Fucking lol

This is what I've noticed too and it makes sense. Many people kept their accounts afterward including me (which most sites use to claim that accounts didn't drop). But I used to go on constantly. Now I check Reddit once every few week if that, and only for specific question that don't have a forum elsewhere.

That's not just because I hate Reddit, I just find most of the subs I was a part of has just outright decreased. And weirdly enough Lemmy gives me a good enough fix without there being so much content I spend a whole day scrolling.
