I run a few groups, like @fediversenews@venera.social, mostly on Friendica. It's okay, but Friendica resembles Facebook Groups more than Reddit. I also like the moderation options that Lemmy has.

Currently, I'm testing jerboa, which is an Android client for Lemmy. It's in alpha, has a few hiccups, but it's coming along nicely.

Personally, I hope the #RedditMigration spurs adoption of more Fediverse server software. And I hope Mastodon users continue to interact with Lemmy and Kbin.

All that said, as a mod of a Reddit community (r/Sizz) I somewhat regret giving Reddit all that content. They have nerve charging so much for API access!

Hopefully, we can build a better version of social media that focuses on protocols, not platforms.

It's good, but it really needs combining of same name communities across the fediverse to prevent fragmentation.

I want to see all the technology instances if I go to /c/technology on whichever instance I"m on. It's hard enough remembering all the other fediverse names and which instances they have.

I mean, it's kinda already doing that on the front page, i.e. grabbing all the other fediverse posts.

I said it in a few threads, but a “super community” feature which can combine multiple communities into one feed is going to be a killer feature. It’s one of the few things missing right now that I think will change the perception of Lemmy once implemented

Eh. Eventually one will become the "de facto" place to go, same way /r/technology won out over /r/tech.

Give it some time for people to figure it out. This "fragmentation" problem, IMO, is overblown.

It's also about easy navigation though Say one does pop up, I don't really wanna remember the fediverse's name if /c/technology, /c/worldnews, /c/news are all on different instances. I just wanna /c/technology and see things there.

That's the whole point of the fediverse. I can stay here and see all the other ones, well I should be able to do it easily instead of remembering all the instances

Well I'm not sure how you expect that to work... especially moderation/rules wise.

Yeah it would be cool if we didn't have to see the instance name but I don't think it's too big a deal. Just subscribe to the better one and never worry about it.

A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.
